INVITATION FOR BIDS
The Edgar County Highway Department will receive Bids for Section 12-00108-02-DR, (Village of Kansas Storm Sewer Improvement) until 10:30 AM., (Local Time) on the 8th day of October, 2013, at 12637 East 950th Road in Paris, Illinois 61944 at which time and place all bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.
A Pre-Bid meeting will be conducted at 10:30 AM., (Local Time) on the 27th day of September, 2013 at the office of Edgar County Highway Department, County Engineer located at 12637 East 950th Road in Paris, Illinois 61944. All potential bidders are strongly urged to attend this Pre-Bid meeting.
Bids are invited upon the several items and quantities of work as follows:
Kansas, Illinois: The work involved in this contract consists primarily of installation of approximately 1,772 feet of 18” Storm Sewer; 10 Manholes; 3 Inlets; an Underground Detention System, for storm water storage; Sewer Repair; Cleaning & Televising Existing Sewers; an Aggregate Base Pavement with an Oil & Chip surface within the excavated areas; Seeding; and all other items to complete the construction from the intersection of Illinois Route 16 with Front Street (CH 12) in Kansas Southerly approximately 2,400 feet.
Contract Documents, including Drawings and Technical Specifications, are on file at the office of Edgar County Highway Department, County Engineer at 12637 East 950th Road in Paris, Illinois 61944.

A certified check or bank draft, payable to the order of Edgar County Highway Department, negotiable U.S. Government bonds (at par value) or a satisfactory Bid Bond executed by the Bidder and an acceptable surety in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total Bid, including the Alternate 1 bid, shall be submitted with each Bid.
Attention is called to the fact that not less than the minimum salaries and wages as set forth in the Contract Documents must be paid on this project, and that the Contractor must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of their race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.
The Edgar County Highway Department reserves the right to reject any or all Bids, including the Base Bid and Alternate 1 Bid, or to waive any informality in the bidding. If awarded, a firm fixed-price contract award will be made in writing to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
Bids may be held by the Edgar County Highway Department prior to awarding of the Contract for a period of time necessary for reviewing the Bids, determining which if any bids (Base Bid or Alternate 1 Bid) will be awarded and investigating the qualifications of Bidders.
